Swelling is not your result
Lips swell. That is expected, and it is why the appearance in the first days is not the outcome you are assessing. Swelling, tenderness and bruising can all occur, and how much varies between people and between appointments.
Your clinician will tell you when the result is reasonable to judge for the specific product used. Resist comparing day-two photographs against anyone else’s finished result.
Following instructions that were written for you
Aftercare should be specific to the product placed, the area treated and your history. A general routine found online was not written with your appointment in mind.
If something in your instructions is unclear, ask the practice rather than substituting advice from elsewhere.
Symptoms that need urgent attention
Filler carries rare but serious risks, including vascular complications. Severe or increasing pain, unusual colour change in the skin, blanching, vision changes or symptoms that feel disproportionate need urgent assessment — not a wait-and-see approach.
Your treating practice should have told you how to reach them and what to do out of hours. Seek emergency care when instructed.
Planning around your calendar
If you have an event coming up, tell your clinician before treatment rather than after. Timing a first or a top-up appointment sensibly is easier than rushing recovery.
