What the treatment is
Botulinum toxin is injected into selected points of the trapezius muscle to temporarily reduce activity. Patients ask about it for muscular tension and for a softer shoulder line.
Aesthetic use of neurotoxin in the trapezius is off-label. Off-label use can be lawful medical practice, but it should be stated plainly and consented to specifically rather than presented as an approved indication.
